When your child suffers from autism,

When your child suffers from autism, you may find that they seem to be preoccupied with certain specific parts of objects rather than the whole thing. An autistic child might prefer to turn the arms of a doll over and over again, rather than play with the toy, something you might find a little distressing for someone so young. Pediatricians are not sure why this happens, only that you may never be able to make them stop, so you have to learn to live with it. Autistic patients, usually the little ones, tend to lose it when you change something anything in their surroundings. If you have gotten them used to doing things in one particular way, it would be difficult, if not impossible to have them change it. As they age, sometimes they become better, understanding the need for some change or variety, but this does not happen in all cases. You may have noticed something peculiar about your autistic child maybe he is very good at memorizing things he sees, or at noticing slight changes in the environment, something you may have thought to mean nothing, or that you may have missed altogether. This is not too strange an occurrence for such kids, even if not all of them are like that. But you should know that they tend to have these skills, only they might not use them in the ways that you think they should. Autistic kids appear to be mentally retarded, but this may not be the case. In a lot of instances, they are actually believed to be smarter than average, even if they do not show it regularly. To get glimpses of such moments, you may have to watch the child closely, or wait for some fluke moment. But it is almost always rewarding, except that the moment it is over, they are back to their old selves again.
