My friend was recently in an accident in Italy. He suffered fractures in five places of his thigh bone. He had a metal rod inserted down the center of his femur. My American friend was transported 10 miles in the Italian ambulance to an Italian hospital where he was in the operating room for several hours. He had pre- and post-operative X-rays, was hospitalized for 11 days and given food health insurance for pre existing conditions and medication, received three days of physical therapy, had three blood transfusions and was given drugs upon discharge.
I give you these details because my friend has private, $10,000 deductible U.S
Universal Detection Technology Brings Anthrax Detection Kits and Bioterrorism Prevention Training to Milipol Paris 2009
by admin on Oct.31, 2009, under Uncategorized
Market Wire, October, 2009
Universal Detection Technology
( www.udetection.com ) (OTCBB: UNDT), a developer of early-warning monitoring
technologies and counter-terrorism training programs to protect people from
bioterrorism and other infectious health threats, announced today that it
will showcase the latest developments in bio-weapons detection technology,
including the TS-10-5-agent biodetection kit, at Milipol Paris 2009.
“Our weight loss programs presence at Milipol comes at a time when international security
experts are admonishing government agencies to be prepared for the real
threat of a bioterrorism attack,” said Jacques Tizabi, CEO of Universal
Detection Technology. “Bio-weapon detection should be a top priority for
all public entities, because for terrorists, they can be purchased or
engineered at relatively low costs, can induce mass casualties and are
oftentimes undetected by on-the-ground law enforcement,” continued Tizabi.
The Commission on Prevention of Weapons of Mass Destruction Proliferation
and Terrorism, assembled by the United States Congress post 9/11, issued an
interim report last week that called bioterrorism the “most urgent threat”
facing the United States. The report said that national security for
anti-bioterrorism programs and “appropriate disease surveillance” were
severely underfunded and neglected.
“There are bio-weapon monitoring tools immediately available for public and
private entities, easy to implement and cost effective,” said Tizabi.
“Universal Detection Technology’s biodetection kits are the first step in
meeting the needs of bioterrorism prevention and planning,” continued
Tizabi.
Universal Detection Technology’s kits, certified earlier this year by the
U.S. Department of Homeland Security as an “Approved Product for Homeland
Security,” are the industry’s only hand-held assay designed to detect and
identify up to five separate threats using one sample in a single,
easy-to-use device. The kits equip first responders with an effective tool
for the rapid onsite detection of up to five biological warfare agents:
anthrax, ricin, botulinum toxin, Y. pestis (plague) and Staphylococcal
Enterotoxin B (SEB). Detection time is under three minutes.
Universal Detection Technology will showcase its TS-10-5-agent biodetection
kit with live and taped demonstrations at booth #11K059 at Milipol Paris
2009, held November 17 – 21, 2009. Members of UNDT’s executive team,
including R&D; and business development, will be present to answer questions
about the products and the company.
Prior to Milipol Paris 2009, Universal Detection Technology will be
presenting its biodetection kits to the 2012 London Olympics organizers at
the 2009 Terrorism & Security Conference, to be held in London November
17th and 18th.
UNDT has also recently signed agreements with the U.S. Department of
Commerce to be the featured exporter of bioterrorism detection equipment in
France and South Korea.

URG and Lonegan Snow LLC Launch ‘URG Auction,’ a New Joint Venture

PR Newswire, Oct 7, 2009
CENTENNIAL, Colo., Oct. 7 /PRNewswire/ — The United Recyclers Group has announced the launch of ‘URG Auction,’ a new online auto salvage auction service that is user-friendly, and georgia auto insurance quotes designed to help the auto insurance industry improve profitability. URG Auction creates a new source of high quality salvage vehicles and best of all, nationwide coverage is being provided so all insurers and URG members can participate. URG Auction is being created in a joint venture between URG and Lonegan Snow LLC, operators of the successful Auto Bid Services program. The URG Auction website will be powered by Dakabi Software LLC.
“URG Auction is unique for a couple of reasons,” says Michelle Alexander, URG Executive Director, who led the effort to make this deal happen. “First of all, URG actually makes the payment directly to the insurer on behalf of our members in order to guarantee prompt payment and ensure customer satisfaction. Second, since there is no buyer’s fee or other charges — as are found in most other salvage pools — our members can use the money they are saving in fees, to then bid higher in the auction. Of course what that means is higher net recovery for insurance companies. Insurers participating in URG Auction can expect higher returns!”
Michelle adds that: “We are always looking for mutually beneficial ways to help URG members.” She notes that the URG Auction differs from all competitors because of the role United Recyclers Group takes in the process. “Because URG handles all collections, it makes us a single point of contact for the auction, and that eliminates the insurer’s need to chase the money from the winning bidders. Life of a vehicle file is now shorter – averaging just 30-40 days

ANEW health and safety company has been set up by grandma Lynn Mohan after she fell victim to the recession.
Lynn, 56, teamed up with Wales-based Keith Humphreys, 50, to launch SpringBoard Safety Services.
The new venture offers a range of tailored health and safety services, specialising in behavioural safety and industrial machinery safety, predominantly in corrugated packaging companies.
Lynn, who only recently became a grandma, previously worked as a regional safety manager for SAICA UK with Keith, however was a casualty of recent cut-backs after it was bought out by a Spanish company. Since setting up, the pair have taken on their old company SAICA as a client, as well as several new customers in the North East, North West and Midlands.
Lynn and Keith share a vast 52 years of experience within the corrugator industry and over 20 years of experience in health and safety.
Lynn said: “Becoming a grandmother has given me a new lease of life and inspired me to start up the business – I wish I’d done it 20 years ago now!
“It’s a lot of hard work, but great to be working with someone who is equally as passionate about health and safety as me and also shares the same work ethic.”
Keith is based in Wrexham and mainly covers the North West area, however the pair work closely together to deliver training courses across the country. He said: “We both strongly believe in helping companies by providing workable, practical and realistic solutions to safety issues.
“We don’t see health and safety as a law, but a moral responsibility and care about safety not just in the work place, but in every aspect of life.”
Lynn and Keith both recently qualified as people handling trainers and are now looking to broaden their services into the healthcare sector.
