VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, Apr 8, 2009 (Marketwire via COMTEX) — Raytec Metals Corp. (the “Company”) (TSX VENTURE:RAY) provides update.
2008 in Review:
In early 2008, the market for fertilizer products, including potash, was extremely buoyant, and Raytec’s priority was to further the exploration and advancement of the Company’s potash properties. Raytec completed a National Instrument 43-101 compliant resource for the Spar Property, which reported an indicated resource of 12.49 million tonnes of K2O and an inferred resource of 12.24 million tonnes of K2O.
Since last summer, the general venture markets and the market appeal of junior potash explorers have fallen dramatically

USA Today (Society for the Advancement of Education), March, 2007
When traveling, especially through airports, it certainly helps to have a quality piece of luggage–one that features wheels that roll really well and sturdy construction so you know your valuables are secure. Or is it more important to be fashionable, sporting the season’s freshest colors and patterns? If your bag comes from Kipling, you won’t have to choose, because each piece incorporates both.
On our last trip, we tried the New York ($250) from the Basic Collection. Perfect for our three-day excursion, this stylish bag features two zippered exterior pockets and four inside ones. It has smooth rolling wheels and a locking handle for easy maneuvering
Millbrae housing project under construction

MILLBRAE — In an effort to provide affordable housing and reduce driving for people who work in Millbrae, the city is allowing the development of an empty plot of land known as Belamour into 149 housing units and 19,000 square feet of retail stores.
Mayor Gina Papan said the city will buy up to 10 percent of the housing units — about 15 or 16 condominiums — and rent them to residents at low prices to encourage those who work in Millbrae to live there as well.
She said a one-bedroom apartment could rent for as little as $500 a month. City employees also expressed hope that the development, which will be across the street from a BART station, will decrease the use of cars.
“We’re excited about the new development. The fact that we can make housing more affordable to people in the community, it really makes it easier for people who work within the community to live there,” Papan said. “That’s the goal of all of this, to get people off the roads and closer to where they work.”
The land is actually four plots that were combined into one property in a unanimous decision by the City Council at its Oct. 28 meeting. The site sits between Broadway Avenue and El Camino Real, with Chadbourne Avenue and Isabel Alley providing the respective southern and northern borders.
By approving the parcel map, the city can also extend the frontage road on the west side of El Camino Real. Papan said this would allow easy access to the construction site without disrupting the flow of traffic on the highway, and could be used as an alternative route in the future.
She added that the development would give many people jobs as the economy contractors pacific palisades continues to suffer daily beatings on Wall Street.
“It puts people to work and keeps the economy moving, and that’s so important,” she said. “In these difficult economic times we have to do whatever we can to make sure that keeps occurring.”
City Planner David Petrovich said the development is owned by private developer L.F. George. Mark Matthews, the city building official who ensures the project conforms to city codes, said George began development of the property about two years ago and always had the intention of combining the four parcels of land.
Matthews said the single building that will be on the completed property will have retail on the first floor of the side facing El Camino Real with the rest of the building being residential units.
He said the development will be financially advantageous because the city will earn property taxes off each unit.
“The city benefits from having the project,” said Matthews, who estimates it will be finished in late 2009 or early 2010

Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC Recognized for Deepest Use of Electronic Health Records for a Pediatric Hospital in Nation
by admin on Sep.23, 2009, under Uncategorized
PR Newswire, August 28, 2009
PITTSBURGH, Aug. 28 /PRNewswire/ — Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC has been recognized by KLAS, an independent healthcare research organization, as the leader in its use of healthcare information technology among pediatric hospitals in the United States.
KLAS interviewed leaders at virtually every hospital in the United States that reported physicians and nurses actively using commercially available software to order and chart under an organized program sponsored by the hospital, said KLAS Founder Kent Gale during a presentation this week at Children’s Hospital.
“During the course of that research we were pleased to discover the remarkable milestone Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC had achieved in its use of electronic health records, moving to mostly paperless operation,” he said. “That achievement makes Children’s Hospital one of the nation’s leaders in healthcare technology adoption. This is only the third time in 12 years that KLAS has recognized a specific healthcare organization for the depth of adoption of electronic health records.”
The new Children’s Hospital, which opened in May, is one of the most advanced digital hospitals in the country and among the first with a fully integrated electronic health record. Children’s Hospital began its implementation of an electronic health record in 2001 when it became one of the first hospitals in the nation to adopt a computerized provider order entry (CPOE) system.
“This recognition is a real tribute to the hard work and ingenuity of the physicians and employees of Children’s Hospital, the UPMC information technology teams, and our partners at Cerner Corporation. The automation of clinical information across the continuum of care is a highly complex and challenging undertaking that can only be accomplished through outstanding teamwork,” said Christopher Gessner, president, Children’s Hospital. “Our investment in a comprehensive electronic health record and full automation leads directly to improvements in patient safety and quality. With the capabilities we now have at our digital campus, we will continue to create even more benefits to our patients through the blending of cutting edge technology and compassionate, family-centered care.”
KLAS’ determination of Children’s Hospital’s leadership position was based upon a number of factors including the percentage of possible physicians doing CPOE, the percentage of possible orders submitted via CPOE (inpatient and ambulatory), the percentage of physicians entering notes and documenting using an electronic health record (inpatient and ambulatory), a fully shared record between inpatient and ambulatory, the percentage of hospital beds where barcode technology is used for medication administration and the percentage of nurses charting and documenting electronically (inpatient and ambulatory).
During the presentation, Gale said the future of health care information technology is to use the systems to mine data to improve safety and quality, as Children’s Hospital is now starting to do. “You are one of the pioneers,” he said.
KLAS’ Top Five U.S. Children’s Hospitals in the Use of Electronic Health Records:
1. Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC 2. American Family Children's Hospital (Wisconsin) 3. The Children's Hospital (Denver) 4. Doernecher Children's Hospital (Oregon) 5. Children's Hospital Boston About KLAS

LONDON (AFP) â Britain’s defence ministry has launched a legal battle with retailer Next over its use of the Royal Air Force’s logo on bedroom furniture aimed at seven-year-old boys, the company said Thursday.
Military top brass are unhappy that the RAF’s red, white and blue roundel, which has featured on aircraft from Spitfires in World War II to modern fighter jets, is being used on a duvet cover, rugs, curtains and wall stickers.
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) said they could not comment further as legal proceedings were pending. A Next spokeswoman told AFP that the MoD had lodged a writ in the High Court but said it had not yet been served
